AL BOY

Alfredo Guarracino, known as Al Boy, was born in Como in 1988.

The artist attended the Institute of Arts and Crafts F.Melotti in Cantù (CO), graduating in Pictorial Decoration. Thanks to his parents, who used to bring him to museums, kermesses, archeological sites, he developed his sensibility and passion for the artistic exploration in different ways and methods.

When just a teenager, he approached silk-screen printing, and the graffiti writing world getting inspired by New York’s ‘80s and Milan’s writers’ scene of ‘90s and early 2000s. In 2010 he started his path through the world of tattoos, learning the basics from Stefano Boetti (a.k.a. Stizzo), then moving to London, where he worked steadily in Cloak and Dagger Tattoo studio. In addition to his job, he carries on his studies on painting and sculpture, experimenting with new subjects and means of expression. In his style, many facets can be traced: sacred and profane, dreamful and grotesque.

His artworks express authentic emotions, as they are born from spontaneous moods and thoughts, translated into complex shapes and images. Al Boy investigates his subconscious, leaving his works to grow almost by themselves, just like a kid playing with sand, though without rejecting the pleasure of a baroque-ish attention for details. He currently lives in Ceraso, a little village surrounded by nature; here, he built his idea of a house-workplace, a space to be shared with friends and guests.

In the meantime, Al Boy is renown for his collaborations with many tattoo studios and artistic workshops like the historical ceramic factory “V.Pinto” in Vietri Sul Mare, always keeping the flame of stylistic and personal research alive.
